Where History Meets Adventure
The Singapore Discovery Centre (SDC) has reinvented itself as a dynamic educational destination where national history, defence awareness, and civic values are communicated through immersive, gamified experiences. Located at 510 Upper Jurong Road, the centre offers a multi-sensory learning environment that transforms historical displays into interactive playgrounds, strengthening strategic thinking and problem-solving skills while fostering a deeper appreciation of Singapore’s journey.
Mission SG: Operation Broken Oath
Among the centre’s most innovative offerings is Mission SG: Operation Broken Oath, a two-hour self-guided adventure in which participants become agents of the Home Security Agency. Using their mobile devices and a chatbot guide, teams must identify a terrorist threat, uncover a mole within their ranks, and decipher hidden codes—all while navigating through real exhibits. The experience requires a WhatsApp-registered phone number, and tickets are purchased based on the number of mobile devices used, making it ideal for team-building exercises and educational group visits.
After Dark Chapters: The Night Experience
SDC’s inaugural annual night experience, After Dark Chapters, running on selected evenings in June 2026, represents a bold departure from conventional museum programming. This army-themed immersive event pulls participants into the untold stories of the Bootcamp training ground, featuring dramatised gallery tours, night laser tag, paintball, obstacle challenges, live stage performances, and a night market atmosphere. The programme runs from 6pm to midnight across four nights, with early bird pricing starting at S$23 for the regular tier and free admission to the fringe activities zone.
Permanent Galleries and Interactive Attractions
The Through the Lens of Time gallery offers a permanent exhibition that traces Singapore’s history through immersive multimedia presentations. The Sandbox gallery complements this with interactive exhibits exploring themes of innovation and national development. For adrenaline-seeking learners, the Black Lake Laser Battlefield provides laser tag in a controlled environment, while the Black Lake Facility—Singapore’s largest double-storey escape room—challenges participants to solve puzzles under time pressure.
The XD Theatre Ride adds another dimension to the SDC experience, featuring 4D effects and patented technology that creates a fully immersive cinematic simulation. This attraction demonstrates how entertainment technology can be harnessed for educational purposes, engaging visitors through physical sensation and narrative immersion.
Practical Details for Educational Visits
SDC operates from 12pm to 6pm on weekdays and 11am to 7pm on weekends, public holidays, and school term holidays. Admission to the Permanent Exhibits Gallery is free for Singaporeans and PRs, while non-Singaporeans pay S$10 for adults and S$8 for children. Mission SG tickets are separate from PEG admission and should be booked in advance through authorised platforms.
